When you arrived at the Eston Shooting Club on the Friday afternoon of the Eston Compak Trial, you were met with a tranquil atmosphere, bathed in beautiful sunshine with a temperature of 28 plus degrees. Shooters were warned and it was hard to believe that there would be such a drastic change of weather in store.
No matter what the weather, shooters will be there to take participate – and what an excellent shoot was in store for all.
Not only was it the chill that kept all shooters on their toes but they had to contend with Brent Smith, who was ever so sharp and walked into the club house with 100 straight on the scoreboard at the end of day one. What can we say – Well done Brent.
Hot on Brent’s heals was Joel Allem and Deon Steyn, both only dropping two clays for the day.
We had a number of 25 straights recorded. Deon Steyn, Craig Smith, Derek Steyn and Quintus de Flamingh – then a special mention of our two juniors, Sven Lindeque and Karel Mestagh. Well done gents – the score board looks great with all those 25’s straights.
All in all a very good first day.
More cold crept in from the coast overnight but the shooters were there for day two.
Brent and Joel kept posting good scores finally ending with a two clay difference. Brent 193 – Joel 191. How exciting is that.

Kudos to Eston Clay Target Club. You were wonderful as always. No fault could be found with anything this weekend and you showered us with your hospitality. We look forward to returning to Eston in February 2020 for the second trial of the year.
Enjoy some footage of the weekend.
